We're sorry, this alert is no longer available.
The short explanation of this alert was:
Before adjourning for Congress' Thanksgiving recess, a bipartisan group of thirteen
Senators officially introduced the DREAM Act of 2005 (S. 2075).
Introduction of the DREAM Act in the Senate is the first of many steps toward
creating a path to higher education and citizenship for immigrant students.
It is likely that the courageous group of Senators who reintroduced the DREAM
Act will be targeted by the anti-immigrant lobby. It’s important that
we show appreciation to those Senators who were willing to act compassionately
in the face of vocal opposition. Please thank the Senators (listed below) for
introducing the DREAM Act, and help balance out the mean-spirited anti-immigrant
forces.
The sponsors of the DREAM Act of 2005 are:
- Richard Durbin (D-IL)
- Chuck Hagel (R-NE)
- Richard Lugar (R-IN)
- Norm Coleman (R-MN)
- Larry Craig (R-ID)
- Mike Crapo (R-ID)
- Mike DeWine (R-OH)
- Russ Feingold (D-WI)
- Ted Kennedy (D-MA)
- Patrick Leahy (D-VT)
- Joe Lieberman (D-CT)
- John McCain (R-AZ)
- Barack Obama (D-IL)
Note:
The email systems of some Senators may reject your thank-you email if you do
not live in their state.
